- students undertaking an education related degree, such as Primary Teaching, Graduate Diploma in Secondary Education, Bachelor of Education, or similar and looking for relevant skills and experience, or
- those who have completed the Certificate III in Education Support or similar program and are looking to upgrade (note: the Certificate III is not a prerequisite), or
- experienced education support workers who need to gain the current accredited qualification (you could be eligible for recognition), and

Delivery Options
This course is offered with the flexibility of either Class-Based weekly sessions, or as Blended online/distance learning. You must also complete 100 hours of placement in one or more registered schools. We recommend you approach your local primary, secondary or specialist educational schools for placement.
This course if offered as either Class-Based or as Blended Online.
Class-Based: Currently offered in Victoria at multiple locations, you will attend a weekly class once per week delivered during school time, usually 10am to 2pm, so you can fit in study with your other commitments. Share your placement experiences in group discussions and be guided by our expert facilitators.
Duration for class-based is three school terms, or about 9 months, but you may extend if you are still completing your placement or assessments, or want to attend study support sessions.

Blended Online/Distance: This approach to learning enables you to study at your own pace, whenever and however it suits you. We will supply you with a set of resources for the course enabling you to get started as soon as your enrolment is confirmed. Our qualified and experienced training team will provide full support with monthly monitoring of your progress and frequent feedback. With a duration from 6 months up to 18 months, you may work through the required units of this program with the option to extend for a further six months if required.

Fees and Funding

Practical assessments
Assessment tasks are practical and oriented to the work or placement context for relevance. They consist of a variety of tasks requiring the ability to research, analyse and present your responses in written form, including reports and practical demonstrations. Feedback on completion of tasks is given as you progress through the course. Your placement supervisor will also be asked to provide third party reports on your progress and feedback on your overall placement performance.
Entry Requirements
There are no specific entry requirements, however to gain maximum benefit, you will need to be able to speak, read and write fluently in English, as well as have basic computer and internet skills and reliable access. It is recommended that applicants have completed to at least a Year 11 secondary school level. All applicants will be required to undertake a pre-training review, including an evaluation of existing language, literacy and numeracy skills.
Special note regarding placement during this course and employment after completion of this course
There are requirements for working and learning in the education sector that all applicants should be aware of prior to enrolment. As you must complete a placement in a registered school, you will be required to undergo a Working With Children check, as well as a National Police Check.
